New Friend Friday

Book Vacay:
Where is the best destination reading spot for you?
(Where do you like to go to read other then your home)

I enjoy going to my local Barnes and Noble and curling up in a big comfy chair with my feet tucked under me, a book in one hand, a vente Chai soy tea latte with cinnamon and honey in the other hand. I love the instant accessibility I have to all kinds of books for whatever mood strikes me that day. I'm pretty easy to please :)

Question:
What is your favorite classic novel?

Answer: To Kill A Mockingbird
                    Dracula
                    The Yellow Wall Paper

  1. Interesting choice with "The Yellow Wallpaper"--it's not often that I see it recognized and not to be pedantic, but would it not considered a short-story? Either way, it's an underrated literary work.

  2. As a Barnes and Noble employee, let me just mention that you don't really want to know what goes on in those chairs sometimes. We've had to throw one out because we found a baby's diaper in it. But yeah, if I didn't know those things, it would be somewhere I would want to go too! :-) I'm an old GFC follower.

  3. Oh, your choice drink and the instant access to all kinds of books—that's sounds perfect! I've never sat in B&N to read, but now I'm going to have to try it. Hope you enjoy your weekend. :)

  5. I used to love reading at my local B&N, but it closed down recently :(

Yellow Wallpaper is one of the best - and freakiest - short stories I have read. Great choice!

  6. I read The Yellow Wallpaper maybe last year? It was short, but convincing in its portrayal. REALLY liked it. I've been seeing Dracula on a lot of these lists as well; if I'd put up more than one book, I think Dracula would have been on my list as well. I wish there were a Barnes and Noble convenient to me; the closest is about a 20-minute drive with traffic, so I go to my local indie shops instead. :)

  7. Everyone's commenting on the Yellow Wallpaper. Me too. I majored in sociology and Charlotte Perkins Gilman is the freaking best. Anyway following on twitter and bloglovin!

    1. In case that seemed tangental, she is just about the only woman ever mentioned when discussing classical sociology, her male peers were mainly sexist buttholes (Ahem, Emile Durkheim) even though they were and still are highly regarded in their expertise. Charlotte Perkins Gilman is my hero, even if she did marry her cousin.

    Hi, Katelynn!

The Barnes & Noble closest to my house happens to be MY favorite reading spot, too! And I usually grab a caramel latte. There's another B & N farther away that I absolutely LOVE, because it has TWO stories!! Utter bliss..... I used to go to Borders, too....so sad that those stores are all gone....I really miss them.

As for your favorite classics, I love "To Kill A Mockingbird" as well. I don't read horror novels, so I've never read "Dracula". I prefer my vamps romantic and sparkly....lol. As for "The Yellow Wallpaper", I've heard of it somewhere, but have never read it. I'll have to find out more about it.

Thanks for sharing, as well as for visiting my blog and commenting on my BBH post!! Happy reading!! : )

  10. I was never a fan of To Kill A Mocking Bird, maybe that's because I was really young when I read it.
